The development team at BioWare has delivered more information on the challenges that are being added to the multiplayer game modes of Mass Effect 3 and on how players will be able to use them to assess their individual performance.

Nathan Plewes, who is an associate producer involved with the multiplayer of the action role-playing genre, says that challenges will allow each player to get Points that will be tracked separately and shown on the Mass Effect 3 leaderboards.

Gamers will be able to use them to brag to their fellow players and those Challenges that are completed on the Gold level will also earn them a banner and a special title that will always be shown in the game lobbies for the multiplayer modes.

Plewes added, “The new system offers an in-game way to track your progress as you complete the challenges. But we’ve also built a new N7 HQ web page that offers a ton of information when you’re not playing, including character lists, leaderboards, and gameplay stats. In-game or online, you’ll have a comprehensive way to review your overall multiplayer progression.”

The addition of Challenges also means changes for the multiplayer events that BioWare has been running in Mass Effect 3.

Now gamers will get a Weekend Challenge that’s active for a limited time and they will get their reward from the game shop as soon as they complete it.

BioWare is also changing the frequency of new weekend based Challenges and will offer one every week and the development team promises surprises when it comes to the equipment that gamers get to use.

The multiplayer mode for Mass Effect 3 has been very popular since the game launched and the fact that BioWare continues to introduce new content means that it’s drawing a significant crowd and that players are spending money in the in-game store.
