The development team at BioWare working on Dragon Age: Inquisition says that one of the main influences on the design of the title is Mass Effect 3, which inspired some of the core mechanics linked to world exploration and control.

CVG quotes Cameron Lee as saying that, “That aspect as well as the galaxy map and the readiness level and stuff like that. We looked at all those sorts of things. None of them were something that was to the degree that we wanted it to be, and all of them had some level of problem. So we didn't take aspects and just manipulate them and maneuver some parts around.”

The developers are trying to make sure that all consequences are more visible than in any previous BioWare titles because there were many instances where gamers failed to notice the impact of their choices and actions.

It seems that the studio is keen to make sure that it is not criticized as it was for the second installment in the Dragon Age series, which many players saw as an experience that was more limited than the first title, Origins.

Lee has also offered some details on the way the Inquisition will work as an organization, especially when players choose one character to become an agent.

He explains that, “I can make them an agent of the Inquisition. Now that does a couple things. One, it unlocks a couple advanced perks for the Inquisition. But it can also open up specific missions on the war table which are continuing the story of that particular agent. So it's more direct, and there are direct rewards.”

Dragon Age: Inquisition is looking impressive, given the most recent trailer delivered by BioWare, mostly because it uses the Frostbite 3 engine that was created by the team at DICE.

The company says that choices sit at the heart of the experience and that the new war table will be used by the player to track his performance, choose which story missions he wants to undertake and how deep he wants to go with the side quests.

The game will focus on a story that involves a tear in the Fade, the Templars, demons, the Mages and Chantry and all the interactions between them.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft on all major markets on October 7 of this year.
