The development team at Faillbetter Games is announcing that it is working with the much larger BioWare studio on a new secret project that’s in the early stages and will be apparently focused on the delivery of a complex narrative thread.

On its official blog, the London-based company states that, “We’ve finally been allowed to lift one corner of the veil. I can’t tell you anything at all about the project – not for a little while yet – except to say that it’s a Failbettery one, down to its bones. But I can tell you the name of the company: BioWare.”

Faillbetter Games is best known for creating the Fallen London online interactive title, which allows gamers to explore a deep universe that uses real-world and fantasy elements and includes some interesting ways for gamers to interact with it.

At the moment, the team is also working on a new title based on the same setting called Sunless Sea.

Both projects are focused on telling interesting stories and many might not even classify them as traditional video games.

Faillbetter Games has previously consulted with BioWare, but it seems that the new mystery project is a much larger endeavor, although no clear details about it have been offered.

The official announcement adds, “When we’ve gone quiet for no obvious reason, it’s because we’ve been heads-down on this. When I’ve mentioned that we don’t take client work any more, with rare exceptions, this is the rare exception.”

The statement probably means that information about Failbetter Games’ collaboration with BioWare will stay in the shadows during the coming months and that intrigued fans will have to wait before they get actual info on the narrative or the gameplay mechanics.

In the fall, fans of BioWare will be able to play Dragon Age: Inquisition, which will be delivered on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PC.

The game is created using the new Frostbite 3 engine and will deliver the most complex experience ever associated with the franchise.

Gamers will be able to travel to Orlais in order to find a way to close down a tear that appeared in the Fade and allows demons to pour into the world of humans.

At the same time, players will need to find a way to reconcile the Chantry, the Templars and the Mages.

BioWare is also working on a new Mass Effect title and on a Star Wars experience.
