BioWare has just released Star Wars: The Old Republic late last month and, while its development was a collaboration between the studio’s various branches from Edmonton, Austin, not to mention Mythic Entertainment, the newly founded BioWare Ireland also played a crucial role right now, according to the co-founders of the company.

Star Wars: The Old Republic was a massive endeavor, as the online game required a lot of effort and teamwork between BioWare’s various studios from around the world.

The most recent member of the family, as we heard last year, is BioWare Ireland, which was founded to provide support and assistance for the new Star Wars game.

In the future, however, things might change, as at least some of the 400 employees might start working on other things once, according to BioWare co-founder and creative lead Greg Zeschuk, who talked to Joystiq about this new branch.

"That's where it is right now," Zeschuk said about BioWare Ireland’s support role, noting, however, that "over time, we'll see."

For now at least, the studio based in Galway is making sure there are no serious issues with Star Wars: The Old Republic, which was just released on December 20, last year.

"It's really a reflection of how important we value the service," added BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka. "The commitment as a premium service subscription game is to support it with high quality service every step of the way."

While no other details were given by the two BioWare founders, it’s expected that the Ireland studio might start assigning staff to other projects, once The Old Republic gets past its initial release period.

This is also likely because BioWare is now a full label inside Electronic Arts’ corporate structure and oversees a variety of projects across other EA studios, not just its own branches, so the Irish branch could lends its expertise to other teams.

As of yet, however, the company is putting the finishing touches on Mass Effect 3, while also working on a variety of updates for The Old Republic.
