The development team at BioWare might be ready to offer details on the new companions that gamers will be able to use in their party when Dragon Age: Inquisition launches, but the company is unwilling to talk about the role that previous protagonists will play in it.

During a panel at PAX East that Eurogamer is reporting on, the studio said that Hawke and the Grey Warden, the main characters in Dragon Age: Origins and its sequel, both represent a solid possibility for the upcoming title.

At the same time, BioWare says that Flemeth, the mother of Morrigan that can switch between human and dragon form, will probably be making an appearance, although she will not have a big role in the core story.

More confusingly, a character from the Dragon Age novel Asunder will also be featured in Inquisition, which means that fans can now speculate and pick favorites from a group that includes Cole, Lambert, Rhys and Evangeline.

BioWare has so far offered only a general outline of the story linked to the new title, which will see the player take on the role of Inquisitor in order to try and close down a tear in the Fade, which allows demons to pour into the world of humans.

The company has also offered a little more information on the dragon fights included in the coming title, which will represent special scripted events that will ask the player to come very well prepared, both in terms of equipment and of personnel that's part of the party.

BioWare wants every dragon kill to feel entirely special and plans to offer some solid rewards for those who manage to take down one of the beasts, as well as giving them recognition within the wider world of Inquisition.

The company has also confirmed information offered before, including the fact that each region that a player can conquer will offer unique bonuses for the rest of the game, but also attention and resources in order to be developed.

The new Dragon Age title is designed to use the Frostbite 3 engine and the beauty of the game world was recently demonstrated when BioWare offered details on Exalted Plains of the Dales area, which has also received a number of superb screenshots.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be offered on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and current-gen consoles during the summer of this year.
