The Mass Effect series from BioWare might be currently on hiatus as a new direction for the franchise is being created, but the development team wants fans to celebrate the fictional birthday of protagonist Commander Shepard with both cupcakes and cocktails that gamers can create at home.

The official blog from the company states, “It’s not every day that the savior of the galaxy is born. This Friday marks the -140th birthday of Commander Shepard, and to mark the occasion we’ve put together a kit for the folks at home so you can throw your own celebration.”

Fans ca also go and meet members of the development team at BioWare during PAX East and can take part in more celebrations inside the official booth.

The cupcake recipe comes in both Paragon and Renegade versions and the full instructions, which seem a little complex considering that video game players should bake them, are offered on the site.

It seems easier to simply celebrate the fictional birthday of Commander Shepard using the two cocktail recipes offered by BioWare:

Paragon

In a shaker filled with ice mix 3 ounces (90 milliliters pineapple juice) with 1 ounce (30 milliliters) of fresh orange juice and 2 or 3 drops of blue food coloring.

Optionally gamers can add 1 ounce (30 milliliters) of Coco Lopez coconut crème.

Shake well to mix all ingredients and then strain into the chilled hurricane glass filled with ice, which can be garnished with a slice of pineapple and a maraschino cherry.

Renegade

In a cocktails shaker mix 1 ounce gin or vodka (30 milliliters) with half and ounce (15 milliliters) of Grand Marnier, a squeeze of lemon juice and a dash of grenadine syrup.

Shake all ingredients well and then strain into a child cocktail glass, then garnish with mint leaves, and a spring of mint or a lemon balm.

The Renegade version of the cocktail created by BioWare sounds pretty good and it might make a solid companion for a replay of the most interesting scenes from the Mass Effect series.

The development team has already said that future titles in the franchise will not use Commander Shepard in any way and that his story will remain untouched.

BioWare is working on a new Mass Effect title, but at the moment, it is focused on launching Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is set to be released on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC in the fall.
