BioWare has announced yet another idea designed to attract gamers to
Dragon Age: Origins, the role-playing experience that is set to arrive on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC on November 3. The company is set to host an event called Warden's Quest, which will see ten teams play the game for 24 hours in an effort to get a 50,000-dollar prize.
Each team will be made up of four players and the whole event will take place at the Debating Chamber of the County Hall in London, a location well suited to the style of the title. The event will begin on October 28 at 10 AM GMT and the company will provide updates related to it throughout the 24-hour period.
The ten teams taking part in the event will be from: the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Netherlands coupled with Belgium, Spain, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and one team that is set to represent BioWare fans from the rest of the world. Screens will be installed to show the action and the leaderboards and BioWare employees and other staff will provide an atmosphere that is as close to that depicted in the RPG as possible.
Mark Darrah, who is the executive producer of
Dragon Age: Origins, says that, “We’re extremely excited about the Dragon Age: Origins Wardens’ Quest – it’s going to be an awesome chance for gamers to band together to prove they’re the best at navigating the world of Dragon Age. In the game, putting together a strong team is essential to success – in the same way the overall strength of the competing teams will decide who walks away with the money.”
Dragon Age: Origins will tell the story of the fight of the protagonists against the Darkspawn and the corrupted dragon Archdemon, in a game that tries to bring the gameplay back to that offered by titles like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights.
