We're just two weeks away from the official release of
BioShock and the hype's grown so much, that gamers have probably forgotten about Halo 3. Just kidding, but you'll probably want to check out Xbox live NOW, as the BioShock demo has just been released and we're talking about 1.35GB of pure fun and
mayhem.
Also you might want to watch the new trailer launched yesterday, although those 60 seconds can't compare to playing the real thing. If I'm not mistaking, the hype before the launch of
Gears of War or Lost Planet: Extreme Condition didn't reach such proportions, but it seems that the System Shock fans are still kicking, even after all these years.
BioShock can be called a "genetically enhanced" FPS that allows players to interact with the environments and foes in ways that no one has ever seen before. This alters the genre in a positive way, straying from the classic mindless shooting, especially if you take into consideration the fact that you can virtually turn everything around your character into a weapon.
The game relies heavily on the use of Plasmids, genetic enhancements that will provide you with super abilities, ranging from the power to generate electrical bolts to turning your enemies against each other. As the previous trailers have shown, the interaction with the environments can reach a level beyond those we've seen in Gears of War or the latest Half Life title.
I can't help but wonder... why are you reading this instead of downloading the demo? Do you want to be the last teen on holiday that plays it? I bet that the Xbox Live has some pretty serious lag, since the gaming community is online and fighting for each megabyte till they get to play BioShock.
In case you don't have an Xbox 360, the time to download the demo or you're just reading this at work, check out the newest BioShock trailer, launched yesterday, avalaible
here.
