Two of the core developers who were working on the upcoming BioShock: Infinite project at Irrational Games have apparently left the team and are now set to become part of the game development teams at Microsoft.

Don Norbury and Clint Bundrick are reported to have left their Irrational Games position, where they were in charge of Artificial Intelligence creation and combat design.

The exodus from the BioShock: Infinite team includes a number of other high-profile designers: Nate Wells, the art director, moved to Naughty Dog earlier during the year; Tom Gerriston, who was product development leader, left the team; and Joseph Faulstick, a producer, also joined Microsoft in 2012.

Rod Fergusson, who was the executive producer at Epic Games working on Gears of War, has left his own company in order to join Irrational Games.

BioShock: Infinite was supposed to be launched during late 2012, but earlier during the year the development team at Irrational Games has announced that it would delay the game in order to have the time they need to make the experience live up to its potential.

Ken Levine, the leader of the team working on the game, has said that the game itself is finished in many ways but there are several areas that could use a bit of polishing in order to satisfy the demands on modern gamers.

BioShock: Infinite makes players inhabit a former Pinkerton agent called DeWitt who is exploring a floating island called Columbia in order to find and save a little girl called Elizabeth, who has supernatural powers.

Reports have suggested that the multiplayer component that was announced for the game has now been scrapped.

BioShock: Infinite is now expected to launch on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on February 26, 2013, unless the team announces yet another delay.
