BioShock Infinite is now gold, which means that the team at Irrational Games is no longer making changes to the code of the game and that retail physical disks are now being produced.

On the official Irrational blog, Ken Levine states, “I’m happy to announce that the game has gone gold. What that means is that it has been approved by both Sony and Microsoft (and the PC Gods, natch).”

The developer adds, “The total cost of the game was five years, 941 billion Klingon darseks (plus tip), 47 camels, a cranberry flan, and the blood, sweat, and tears of the Irrational Team.”

Levine then offers little hype for the video game, describing it as a shooter that takes the player to very dark and dangerous places.

The game will take players to Columbia, a floating island, as a former detective who is seeking a girl called Elizabeth that has supernatural powers, including the ability to open trans-dimensional portals.
