The software works better now

Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has recently updated the Bing application for Windows Mobile-based mobile phones out there. The company did not announce the update officially, but the download page for the software solution shows that a new version was made available in early July.

Although no specific details on what has been updated emerged, some say that the new version of the Bing Mobile application for Windows Mobile was meant to fix a series of issues the previous flavor came on handsets with. Some improvements are also included in the package. According to mobiletechworld, the turn-by-turn voice navigation feature on the app is now fully functional.

Here's how Microsoft describes the application on its website: “This is the Bing app for Windows Mobile 6 devices. Quickly search for local businesses, get maps and directions, see latest traffic conditions, and even find local movie showtimes, wherever you are. Download it now for your Windows Mobile 6, 6.1, or 6.5 device.” The app can be downloaded on a desktop computer, from where one would have to transfer it to the handset. It is available on Microsoft's website here.

In related news, we learn that Microsoft has pushed into the wild not only a new version of the Bing application, but also a new video commercial for the Bing service. Based on the classic motorcycle movie, Easy Rider, the video ad shows how Bing can be used to find directions even when out in the desert, at times when other services are not helping.

The star in the clip is once again the Windows Mobile version of the Bing Mobile app, even if the handset on which is used does not sport any branding and seems relatively unknown. For what its worth, it seems that Microsoft is determined to show that it can do better on the mobile space too, and not only on the OS side, but on the services area too.
