Bing for Mobile Updated for BlackBerry Devices

A new version of the Bing for Mobile application for RIM's BlackBerry smartphones has been released, with a nice range of enhancements included into the mix.

The new mobile application version comes to the market with various changes aimed at both the devices running under the new BlackBerry 6 OS, as well as at those powered by the older BlackBerry 5 OS.

Among these improvements, we can count image search, Bing homepage hotspots, flight Instant Answers, Safe Search and “What’s Nearby.”

According to a recent post on the Bing Community Blog, the new application release would also include the previously available features, with enhancements added based on the feedback received from end-users.

The new version of Bing for BlackBerry application comes with features like:

Homepage Hotspots:
If you have a little time to spend and want to explore the day’s image, point around it until you find a hotspot. Hidden in the image, hotspots are intended intrigue and inform you. If you look, you’ll find four of them every day. Each gives you a chance to find out more about the subject of the image.


Flight Status Instant Answer:
Never miss a flight again. Simply enter your flight number and Bing for mobile will provide you with the status at a glance.

Bing Image Search
Find the perfect image while you’re on the go. Bing Image Search provides you with gorgeously rendered images formatted for easy viewing on your phone.

“What’s Nearby”
Bing for Mobile has a smart experience for finding local listings like restaurants and attractions using your location to serve up “what’s nearby.”

The new version of the application was made available for download via the BlackBerry App World, the said blog post continues. The software can be downloaded through heading to m.bing.com from the browser on a BlackBerry device.

As stated above, the application can be used on both BlackBerry 6 and BlackBerry 5-based handsets, including: BlackBerry Bold 9000, BlackBerry Torch 9800, BlackBerry Curve 2 8520/8530, BlackBerry Storm 9530, BlackBerry Storm 9550 (Storm2), BlackBerry Tour 9630, or BlackBerry Bold 9650 (Essex).
