On Monday, Microsoft and its partners made available for purchase on the North American continent the first handsets running under its new Windows Phone 7 operating system, packing them with a nice range of features and services, including some powered by Bing.

While it does not come as a surprise that Microsoft would pack one of its products in another one, it should be mentioned that Bing and Windows Phone 7 go hand in hand pretty nicely, and that users should enjoy a great experience when using both at the same time.

In case there are some who do not know what Bing on Windows Phone 7 is all about, some more details are available below.

The Bing Homepage will offer an experience similar to the one available when using the engine on a desktop PC, as it will provide a new photo each and every day.

Moreover, users will be able to receive “a slick view of weather data from Bing” on their Windows Phone 7 devices, just as can be seen in the first screenshot below.

But this is not all. Bing will also offer a nice range of other pieces of info on Windows Phone 7, including instant access to flight status.

Not to mention that there will be integration with Bing Maps, so that users can enjoy “elegant navigation” for driving and walking.

Windows Phone 7 has a great experience for finding local listings like restaurants and attractions,” a recent post on the Bing Community blog reads, adding that users will also receive reviews into the business details.

“It’s great to experience Bing on Windows Phone 7- and hopefully it’s one of many reasons for you to go out and get one today,” the said blog post continues.

Of course, some might argue that it is not fair for Microsoft to put Bing at the core of Windows Phone 7 and leave no room for other solutions, but things are actually a little different.

On Monday, Google announced the availability of its own search solution for handsets running under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system.
