A new visual search gallery has gone live on Microsoft’s search decision engine, allowing fans of World of Warcraft to explore a collection of weapons and items from the game.

Obviously, the Bing World of Warcraft Visual Search Gallery is much than just a set of pretty pictures for users to feat their eyes on.

“Recently we partnered with our friends over at Wowhead.com to create a Bing Visual search gallery of the hottest World of Warcraft in-game weapons and gear,” said Kristin Meldahl, from the Bing team.

“Looking for a Deadly Gladiator’s Bonegrinder or an Argent Skeleton Crusher? You can now filter, search, and see what other diehard Wow players are saying about all of the items to find what you need faster.”

Simply accessing the Bing World of Warcraft Visual Search Gallery allows users to get an overview of all the items in WoW.

Be advised, the Beta of Bing Visual search gallery is built in Silverlight, and as such, users will require the Redmond company’s alternative to Adobe Flash in order to enjoy the content.

The best thing about the Bing Visual search gallery for WoW is that the project also centralizes a variety of data on the items featured.

“Don’t know which weapon you need to beat Keli'dan the Breaker? We have pulled in all the relevant information from various Wow Bloggers including reviews, feedback and have even included videos into the gallery so you can make the best decision,” Meldahl added.

Gamers need only to hover their mouse over the thumbnail of a specific WoW object in order to immediately access additional information on the item.

At the same time, clicking a thumbnail is the equivalent of performing a search for the item depicted in the image.

Still, this is no ordinary search. Microsoft offers info on the item, links to additional websites, user comments, more images and screenshots from the game, and even blog posts related to the object.

“The new WoW gallery in Visual Search organizes items through filters and gets you to that much needed pair of boots or weaponry so you can get back to your game. Now go and decide what you need and get back to the raid,” Meldahl said.
