14 DAY TRIAL // Bing users are undoubtedly well aware of the fact that Microsoft has opted for a less traditional approach when it comes down to the home page for its search/decision engine. The Redmond company had started featuring wallpapers as the background of its search engine when it was still called Live Search, and the concept only evolved with the advent of Bing. Each day, a new image is featured as the background of Bing, and the software giant makes it a pointy to select superb imagery. Now, with the introduction of the Bing homepage Visual Search gallery, users can explore the Wallpapers offered by the Redmond company.
“One question that users often ask is how they can find past homepage images. Sure those arrows let you revisit the last 7 days’ worth of homepages, but what about last month? Well, you asked and we answered. Today we’re really excited to announce our Bing homepage Visual Search gallery,” said Stephanie Horstmanshof, Bing Managing Editor.
The Bing homepage Visual Search gallery is made possible by the Bing Visual Search Beta , a vertical of the search/decision engine designed to enable users to visually search through images, rather than using text. Built with Silverlight, the experience is unique to Bing, and users need only visit the new Bing Wallpapers Visual Search Gallery to understand why.
“Now you can go back through previous homepage images to see what you’ve missed or revisit old favorites. And you can sort by a variety of categories, including all the homepages featuring countries in Europe, or every homepage image from space. Click on the image you like, and you’ll be taken to a details page where you can learn more about the subject in the photo and see related images. And click “ZOOM IN” for an even larger view,” Horstmanshof added.
