Users will be able to interact with information in new ways

Bing has just got a brand new feature. Starting this week, users will start seeing Qwikis in Bing Search results, which will provide them with new ways of exploring.

For those who don’t know what Qwikis are, we should note that they were designed as interactive presentations combining images, videos, maps and spoken narration.

Through them, users can explore further than before, while benefiting from a unique, visual experience. They will also offer the necessary info fast and allow users to do more, Microsoft notes.

“With features like snapshot, which we introduced with the recent Bing redesign, we made it easier to take action directly from the results page,” Franco Salvetti, principal development lead, Bing, notes in a blog post.

“With Qwikis and other visual elements in Bing, we’re helping people decide what they want to do by creatively exposing them to information that might otherwise take them awhile to find.”

Bing is focused on providing users with a seamless experience, and the addition of Qwikis to its search results comes in line with this philosophy.

“With that in mind, Qwikis feel like a natural part of the search results column. To interact with a Qwiki simply click on the play button under a Wikipedia entry in the Bing search results,” Salvetti explains.

When launching a Qwiki, users will be offered with a dynamic way to interact and receive info on a specific topic. When looking for more info, one would simply have to click on what seems of interest in a Qwiki.

While delivered initially alongside Wikipedia results, Qwikis will soon benefit from deeper integration within Bing results.

“With Qwiki integrated into search results, Bing is continuing to redefine search to deliver an experience that helps people go from searching to doing. The integration of Qwiki will continue to evolve with the experience of search so that the user is always given an enjoyable and productive experience,” Salvetti continues.
