Bing is sponsoring the Xtranormal Film Festival Contest, giving next generation filmmakers the chance to win over $10,000 in prizes by putting their movie-making skills to good use. The theme of the competition is obviously linked to Microsoft’s decision engine. Essentially, participants need to highlight the “decisions” theme in their video.

Those that require additional explanations related to the Xtranormal Film Festival Contest can watch the video embedded at the bottom of this article.

It might also be a good idea for them to head to the official site of the Xtranormal Film Festival Contest and read the rules. The contest is opened only to film-makers in the US.

“Until April 14th, we invite you to visit: http://www.xtranormal.com/bing/ and create a 2 minute (or under) video,” a member of the Bing team stated.

“Judges including Fisher Stevens, iJustine and Jason C. Henry, SVP/TV Development with Ryan Seacrest Productions will select the winners for each category, with a grand prize presented at Bing’s party at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26th.”

Entries can be submitted into no less than three categories: action, romance and horror. In addition to the $10,000 in prizes, one winner will also get his or her own Xtranormal character.

“For those not familiar with Xtranormal, their mission is to bring movie-making to the people. Everyone watches movies and they make it easy for anyone to make movies,” the Bing team representative added.

“Their approach to movie-making builds on an almost universally held skill—typing. You type something; they turn it into a movie.”

Those film-makers planning to document the horrors of a decision engine slaughtering search engines with a chainsaw need to reconsider, that idea is already taken!
