Osama bin Laden has allegedly left a message on a web site stating that Zacarias Moussaoui, the French citizen of Moroccan descent accused by the US of being among the ones who plotted the 9/11 tragic terrorist attacks, was not included in the group who carried out the terrible mission.
On the tape, what allegedly has been labeled as bin Laden's voice, says that: "I am certain of what I say, because I was responsible for entrusting the 19 brothers -- Allah have mercy upon them -- with those raids, and I did not assign brother Zacarias to be with them on that mission. And his confession that he was assigned to participate in those raids is a false confession, which no intelligent person doubts is a result of the pressure put upon him for the past four and a half years".
The voice on the tape also mentions the fact that two detainees at the US Navy detention facility Guantanamo Bay were the only ones who knew about the plan, but does not identify them: "All the prisoners to date have no connection with the events of September 11 and knew nothing about them, with the exception of two of the brothers, may Allah free them all". It is being added that the Bush administration knows about this fact but they do not officially mention it in order to profit from the Defense Department's large budget.
Addressing the American people, the voice on the tape, actually an audio message, speaks in Arabic and has English subtitles.
The message was left on one of the web sites which usually deal with carrying statements of this sort.
If experts prove that the voice on the tape is bin Laden's, then this would represent the first actual proof of his plotting the 9/11 events, not to mention the fact that it is self-admitted.
At the beginning of May, Moussaoui was sentenced to life in prison without parole by an US jury for his role in the attacks, although prosecutors wanted the death penalty for him.
