Harmonix and MTV Games, the two companies that are preparing to launch Rock Band 3 on October 26 on the Nintendo Wii, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, have confirmed that well known artist Billy Joel will be amongst the first to deliver his music exclusively to the new game via a downloadable content package.

Billy Joel is the winner of six Grammy Awards and was sold more than 100 million records all over the world since 1973.

The DLC package will be delivered on December 14 and will include tracks like: “Big Shot”, “Captain Jack”, “It’s Still Rock N Roll to Me”, “Movin’ Out”, “Only The Good Die Young”, “Piano Man”, “Pressure”, “Say Goodbye to Hollywood”, The Entertainer” and “The Stranger”.

The tracks all take advantage of the new keyboard support feature which is included in Rock Band 3 and will also have parts for the Pro Keys mode, which make the music playing experience closer to real life than ever.

Rock Band 3 is set to include 83 songs on the disk and will be supported by Harmonix and MTV Games with weekly DLC.

When the announcement was made Billy Joel said, “The addition of the keyboard made me interested in bringing my music to Rock Band. The game introduces music to an enthusiastic audience in a powerful way, and now also helps players get a grasp on the fundamentals of the keyboard.”

Paul DeGooyer, who is the senior vice president for electronic games, music and programming for MTV Networks, also stated, “We are very excited to count Billy Joel’s celebrated songs among the first downloadable content available for Rock Band 3. The moment our fans heard we were adding keyboard game play, they have been clamoring for music from The Piano Man. We are delighted to be working with Billy to allow our fans to play his killer arrangements in Rock Band – especially the fantastic keyboard parts.”
