It's that time of the year again: as 2011 draws to a close, we're all turning to have one last look at what it brought us in various areas, the good and the bad together. Billboard

has just released its Top 20 Songs of the Year chart.

It's never an easy task to sum up the best or the worst in something, especially in music, where we come across artists from both categories on a constant basis.

To comprise an official top with the 20 Songs of the Year, Billboard looked at aspects like popularity, airplay and, of course, actual sales.

In doing so, it came up with the best tracks of the year – and you will undoubtedly find a personal favorite or two on that list.

Opening at number 20 is Rihanna's single off the “Talk That Talk” album, “We Found Love.” Both the song and the accompanied video have been met with some controversy upon release, but they still proved a hit with audiences.

Up next is “Midnight City” from M83 and “Hell on Heels” from Pistol Annies. DJ Khaled's “I'm on One” lands in at number 17, while “Wildfire” by SBTKRT can be found at 16.

Rihanna gets another entry in the top, this time for her collaboration with Drake “Take Care,” featured on his album. British songstress Nicola Roberts is at number 14 with “Beat of My Drum.”

The top 20 is rounded by Radiohead (“Lotus Flower”), Beyonce (“Countdown”) and The Joy Formidable (“Whirring”) at number 11.

Adele opens the top 10 with her gorgeous ballad “Rolling in the Deep,” which spent 7 atop the Hot 100 chart. That is, if you needed additional information as to why Adele, one of the highest selling artists of the year, scored a spot on this chart.

Chris Brown is at number 9 with “Look at Me Now” (ft. Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes), while Lady Gaga is up next for “The Edge of Glory.”

The Grammy-nominated “Halocene” from Bon Iver makes it on the chart at number 7, followed next by “Novacane” (Frank Ocean), “Motivation” (Kelly Rowland ft. Lil Wayne), and “Nixxas in Paris” (“The Throne”).

The top 3 songs of 2011 as per Billboard are as follows: “Till the World Ends” by Britney Spears, “Someone Like You” by Adele and, at number 1, “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj.

To end this piece (and hopefully the year) in style, below are the three songs sitting atop the Billboard chart. Enjoy and, of course, let's get the party started!
