Even big name, esteemed actors make mistakes in choosing to accept a part in a movie that turns out to be a disaster. Bill Murray is one of them, but he admits that the only reason he agreed to voice Garfield in the two films was actually because he had no idea what he was agreeing to.

In a Q&A on Reddit, Murray came clean about this when asked if there was a third “Garfield” in the making. He said he wouldn’t be holding his breath for one, which obviously required further explaining on his part, the Daily Mail informs.

What happened was that, when he received the script by Joel Cohen, Murray mistook him for Joel Coen of the famous Coen Brothers. He didn’t even bother to go through the script properly before saying yes.

"I love the Coen brothers movies. I think that Joel Coen is a wonderful comedic mind. So I didn't really bother to finish the script, I thought 'he's great, I'll do it'," Murray explained.

On the first day on set, he found out the truth: he was about to be in a movie not by Coen, with very bad writing. Even worse, he’d signed on for 2 movies and there was no way of backing out, so he went ahead and did it.
