Even though Bill Gates is mostly focused on his charity work, he remains one of the richest men in the entire world, according to Bloomberg’s very own Billionaires Index.

The Microsoft founder has managed to add $7 billion (€5.3 billion) to his fortune last year, even though he has given away no more, no less than $28 billion (€21 billion) since 2007.

According to Bloomberg, shares of the Redmond-based software giant rose 2.9 percent, but Microsoft stock represents only 20 percent of Gates’ fortune.

Business Insider writes that Bill Gates has also invested in world-renowned companies such as tractor manufacturer Deere & Co., Coca Cola, Auto Nation and Cascade Investment, while also granting a $36.2 billion (€27.4 billion) budget for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Bill Gates is currently the second richest man in the world, as Carlos Slim keeps his leading position with an increase of $13.4 billion (€10.1 billion) in his net worth last year.
