In the view of Dilbert creator Scott Adams

In what fashion is concerned, in the United States, Gays are the new Pink and Atheists are the new Gays. Which means that they are fashionable. But what does this have to do with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates? Well? I'm getting there. Bear with me.

"Atheists: the new Gays" is a blog post published by Scott Adams, the author of Dilbert, an American comic strip. The article focuses on the atheists' coming out of the closet following 9/11 and how denying the existence of God and a political career intermingle. And as atheism is increasingly adopted in the American pop culture, Adams ventures as far as to say that "since 9/11, atheism has moved above Islam in the rankings, at least in the minds of Christians and Jews in the United States."

In this context, Adams went as far as to propose an atheist business leader to the seat in the White House: Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates. "By then, Bill Gates will have done so much good for the world through his charitable works that combined with his business success he'll appear more qualified than any other candidate. His early bachelor life and some of his business practices will come back to haunt him if he runs, but he can still win with this simple slogan: "Who would you rather have on your side?" He'll confess to all of his past imperfections and say that presidents are poor choices for role models. He'll advise you to look to your parents for role models while you let him run the country," wrote Adams in the Dilbert blog.

What do you think? In the eventuality the Gates renounced his philanthropic efforts in favor of an U.S. Presidency, would you give him your vote?
