Although he is the richest man in the world, Bill Gates didn't forget where he came from and, during a PTA meeting, Microsoft's founder donated $40 million for the Lakeside School in Seattle.
Lakeside School is a private institution
and the money donated by Bill Gates will be turned into scholarships for those who want to study there. The Seattle school, the one Bill Gates and his friend, Paul Allen (Microsoft's co-founder) attended, was built in 1914, being acknowledged as one of the best educational institutions in the US.
In his speech, Bill Gates outlined that, without this school, there wouldn't have been Microsoft.
The "Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation" donated the money.
Bill Gates' gratitude for Seattle is not something new. In 2003, Gates agreed for the SeattleArt Museum to organize an exposition for the Codex Leicester, a collection of Leonardo DaVinci manuscripts bought by Microsoft's founder in 1994.
