A couple of years ago Google Maps introduced support for bike trails. The feature was very useful for those wanting to use their bikes more, since they were able to find out if they can reach a location, safely, in advance.
Now Google is moving more into that direction by introducing new way of displaying different types of bike paths. Dedicated paths will be displayed in dark green, roads with a bike lane will be drawn in light green and finally roads that are safe for bikes will be drawn with a dotted line.
"You can view this legend by clicking on the widget in upper right corner of Google Maps and selecting the Bicycling layer. You can also access biking directions on your Android device or by going to maps.google.com on your mobile browser," Google's Dave Kim
explained.
