The first Biggest Loser couple to tie the knot and proudly announce they were expecting their first child together, Sam Poueu and Stephanie Anderson, are getting divorced. Stephanie herself has confirmed the news in a statement to Us Weekly.
The two met and fell in love on the third season of the hit reality series, and were married in 2012.
They both lost a lot of weight on the show (to a total of almost 350 pounds / 113.9 kg) and managed to turn their life around. He even proposed to her on the Biggest Loser ranch where they met.
Anderson doesn’t say what caused the rift, but she says she’s filing for divorce and that the marriage is irretrievably broken.
“It is with great sadness that my marriage to Sam Poueu is ending. Thank you in advance for respecting our privacy during this difficult time,” she says.
To make matters even more heartbreaking (as if they weren’t already), Anderson is also 7 months pregnant with her and Sam’s first child.
“It's been a long road for the couple, who fell in love while filming the third season of Biggest Loser, which aired in 2010,” Us Weekly writes.
“Poueu proposed on the show's ranch in Calabasas, Calif. in October 2010. Nearly one year later, in September 2011, Poueu survived a terrifying 54-foot fall from a friend's roof deck, but had to endure multiple, serious injuries. Anderson stayed by his side during the grueling 3-month recovery, and they wed in April 2012,” adds the same media outlet.
After the recovery, when they announced they were expecting, Sam said that the way Stephanie cared for him during all this time was his clue that she’d make the most amazing mother ever.
As of now, he’s yet to say anything publicly about the split.
