After a few years in which we hardly heard anything about Bigfoot Networks, the company seems set to make a comeback into the market as, after it managed to push its Ethernet solutions into a wide series of gaming oriented motherboards, Bigfoot has announced the introduction of its first wireless N networking cards.

Right now, two models are available, the Killer Wireless-N 1103 and 1102, and both adapters support the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n standards, Wi-Fi Direct, operate on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands and come in a half-size mini-PCIe form factor.

This makes them well suited for integration in a wide range of notebook models where space is at a premium.

Just as it is the case with its Ethernet solutions, Bigfoot's wireless NICs feature the company's proprietary “Advanced Stream Detect” technology, which prioritizes network traffic to favor online games, HD video and other high-bandwidth applications.

In addition, the wireless cards also ship with the Visual Bandwidth Control software that allows users to monitor and tune the bandwidth allocation of the running tasks anyway they want.

The main difference between the two adapters is the maximum data rate supported as the Killer Wireless-N 1103 can reach speeds of up to 450Mbps while the Killer Wireless-N 1102 is limited at 300Mbps.

“Popular online applications like gaming, Voice over IP (VoIP) and HD video are some of the most sensitive to latency and packet loss over Wi-Fi connections,” said Bigfoot Networks CEO Michael Howse.

“With our innovative networking technology and advanced 802.11n hardware, Killer Wireless-N adapters not only accelerate performance for online games, they also reduce stuttering, excessive buffering and other annoyances in video chat and on-demand entertainment services.”

The two solutions will be integrated in a wide series of multimedia and gaming notebooks from AVADirect, CyberPower, iBuyPower, Origin PC, Velocity Micro and others.

Just yesterday, Maingear has announced a notebook that uses Bigfoot's Network new wireless cards.
