Video game publisher Square Enix and online game company Bigpoint have announced that they are working on a new project, although neither of the two companies offered any sort of information on what players can expect from it.

Phil Rogers, who is the chief executive officer at Square Enix Europe, stated, “We’re very excited to have teamed up with Bigpoint who are leaders in browser gaming. This is the start of both an exciting new project and a strong relationship.”

Heiko Hubertz, the CEO and founder of Bigpoint, added, “We are so excited to have the opportunity to work with Square Enix. The combination of Square Enix’s long-standing experience in providing digital entertainment and Bigpoint’s expertise in developing browser games promises to yield quite the exciting new game.”

The game will be offered via the Bigpoint portal and more details will be released before the actual launch date.

Speculation suggested that the collaboration might deliver a free-to-play online game based on one big JRPG franchise from Square Enix.
