Hours ago, Nicole Richie said “I do” to her boyfriend of 4 years and the father of her 2 children, Joel Madden. Before the very private ceremony took place, a bidding war over exclusive photos of the wedding broke.

As we also informed you the other day, Nicole and Joel wanted their wedding to be very exclusive and very private, inviting only a handful of friends and absolutely no media.

However, lest the ceremony be ruined by the paparazzi, they agreed to get one agency to shoot the pictures, which will also appear in one of the US glossies, which instantly sent the paps into a bidding frenzy over the rights, PageSix reports.

“There was frantic negotiating to land Nicole Richie a $100,000 exclusive magazine deal ahead of her big wedding to Joel Madden,” the e-zine writes.

Of course, Richie's representatives played an important part in this, refusing to give a positive answer until the 13th hour, which, in turn, prompted the glossies to try and outbid each other

“Reps for Richie – who recently took a photographer to court to protect her and her children's privacy – were as late as yesterday 'playing the weekly magazines against each other to drive up the price,' an insider said,” PageSix claims.

“Sources tell us that the reps for Richie, who said she planned to give the money to charity, had agreed to an OK! bid earlier in the week to make her a 'cover chip' – a less important story referenced with a small photo on the front page – but then went to People to negotiate a full cover,” the same publication reports.

As we speak, the first details of the wedding are already starting to surface in People, which reports that the happy couple kept the ceremony traditional in all aspects – except for that part where they had a trained elephant included in it.

The photos are yet to come.
