The company released the Home Surf MD slate in India back in 2010

The Indian market will soon be getting another tablet addition to its already crowded ecosystem. And since kiddie slates seem to getting the spotlight these days, manufacturing company Binatone is taking up the endeavor of delivering a capable and safe mobile device to the Indian market.

The tablet has been baptized the App Star and has already been made available in selected markets across Europe and is pre-loaded with educational content, NDTV reports

Binatone Country Head S. P. Singh commented on the launch, saying that the “App Star is packed full of software suitable for children of 4 years and above. It has pre-loaded fun games, educational apps, art studios, e-books, audio-books, music player and camera with video recorder.”

A very important feature of child tablets is to give parents control of what software and content is being viewed. Thus, the App Star can be used in two modes: child mode and parent mode. Battery life can last up to 4 hours.

The slate features a 7-inch display and is maintained alive by a 1GHz processor, coupled with 512MB of RAM. It offers 4GB of internal storage and is Wi-Fi capable. Binatone also offers a colorful cover, to protect the device in case the child drops it on the floor.

Customers will be able to grab the kid tablet for the price of Rs 9,999 / $163.51 / €120.52.
