BiTMICRO Networks announced today the launch of a new rugged solid state drive from the E-Disk Altima family of products that comes with amazing storage capabilities of 416GB and unprecedented levels of performance and reliability. BiTMICRO is one of the companies that pioneered storage solutions like IDE/ATA, SCSI, VME, and Fibre Channel based on flash solid state drives and its latest product comes as an innovative storage solution for mainstream enterprise, commercial, industrial and military applications.

The E-Disk Altima Flash solid state drive series of products from BiTMICRO Networks is based on a cutting edge design and uses the EDSA data transferring flash controller as well as the LUNETA memory flash interface. Because of these innovations, the E-Disk Altima Flash solid state drive series bring to its users both high capacity and high performance, while maintaining an affordable price tag, being the perfect storage solution for servers, networks and applications that operate in extreme environmental conditions. The first product to hit the market from this new series is the E-Disk Altima E2A133BL Parallel ATA 133 model which comes in the form of a rugged 2.5-inch mobile drive.

The manufacturing company, BiTMICRO Networks, designed this first storage solution to meet the demands of users looking for a flash-based solid state drive that is able to offer increased storage capabilities and fast data access while being compatible with older Parallel ATA interfaces. The data transferring interface found integrated in this SSD is compatible with several standards like PIO 0-4, DMA 0-2 and UDMA 0-6 data transfer modes. As it is based on the latest high-density single level cell (SLC for short) NAND flash memory chips, this product can deliver storage capabilities up to and including 416GB, while sustaining a data transferring rate of up to 100MB per second for read operations and write operations at a speed of 20MB per second. Its burst speed is the maximum speed supported by the Parallel ATA 133 interface, 133MB per second. Completing the image of an extraordinary storage solution is the fact that the E-Disk Altima ATA-133 model is able to operate in a wide temperature range, having been tested at temperatures between 40?C and +85?C.

''For storage users in the military and industrial markets, high disk capacities equate to longer hours, even days, of non-stop operation. Just like enterprise users, these markets desire continually increasing drive capacities to meet exponential growth in their storage requirements,'' remarked Rudy Bruce, Exec. VP for Marketing and Sales and CMO at BiTMICRO Networks. ''The launch of the E-Disk Altima series of cutting-edge solid state flash drives will usher in a new computing era, where solid state mass storage will combine with multi-core processors to deliver unprecedented levels of performance required by next-generation operating systems and applications,'' Bruce explained. The E-Disk Altima ATA-133 solid state drive is expected to be available for engineering sampling in the first months of the next year and start mass shipments in March 2008 in capacities between 4GB and 416GB.
