Now that Internet Explorer 9 RTW is available to the public, what’s next? A legitimate question, and one that I asked members of the IE team last time we had a chat, just days ahead of the IE9 launch last month. Back then I wasn’t able to squeeze any details about the future evolution of Internet Explorer beyond IE9, but I suspect that Microsoft will share some information as early as next week.

Between April 12 and 14, the Redmond company will host MIX 2011 in Las Vegas, and has already confirmed Windows Internet Explorer Corporate Vice President, Dean Hachamovitch; Corporate Vice President, Windows Phone Program Management, Joe Belfiore; and Corporate Vice President, .NET Developer Platform, Scott Guthrie for the opening keynote address.

Now obviously, the three will talk about Internet Explorer, Windows Phone, and Silverlight (raise your hand if you have already seen this trio on stage together before).

As far as Belfiore and Guthrie are concerned, speculation already reveals that they will share some info about the upcoming Mongo update for Windows Phone 7 and respectively Silverlight 5 (the first Beta will be released at MIX 2011).

When it comes to Hachamovitch, I expect him to talk about IE9 Mobile, the new flavor of Internet Explorer 9 that is tailored to Windows Phone.

“At last year's MIX10 event, Windows Internet Explorer Corporate Vice President, Dean Hachamovitch, announced the Internet Explorer 9 Platform Preview 1 with hardware accelerated HTML5,” the software giant reveals.

“This year, Dean will be back on the MIX stage as he returns as the day 1 keynoter at MIX11. Eight platform previews, one beta, one release candidate, and one final version of Internet Explorer 9 later - it’s a keynote you won’t want to miss.”

The description from the MIX 2011 site is as vague as you’d expect, and frankly I find it impossible to interpret anything from it.

At the same time I’m reserving the right to keep hope for some details related to the IE evolution after Internet Explorer 9 (fingers crossed for a new post-IE9 RTW Build even).
