Parts of the sequel are already done but Ubisoft is still reticent

Beyond Good & Evil Creator Michel Ancel shared a few more of his desires for the long awaited sequel and revealed that he and his team want to deliver a huge open world that contains multiple planets and big cities that can be explored by players.

The original Beyond Good & Evil delivered an impressive experience that amazed lots of gamers in the early 2000s and a few years ago when it was re-released in high-definition.

Sadly, the long awaited Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still caught in development limbo, as Ubisoft is apparently reticent to commit resources to the experience.

According to Michel Ancel, the creator of the franchise, a few things still need to be done before starting proper work on the project.

"We need to build the team and retrieve the elements that we worked on," Ancel explained to Eurogamer.

"I don't want to say things in terms of time that will make people disappointed – it will really depend on the speed that we will make things for that game."

The development won't require a long time, as apparently there are quite a few things done

"We've made a lot of things already. Now we need to put them together and make that game. If there would be any communication it will be in the next year, just trying to talk about the fact we are on it. But so many people in Ubisoft want to make that game, honestly."

Ancel also explained that his team had huge ambitions for the original Beyond Good & Evil but, due to time, hardware, and development constraints, they were toned down.

"In Beyond Good & Evil 1 at first it was a full planet, you could go to the North Pole and see the eternal day," he explained.

"But we had to limit it as we were only 35 people. We couldn't fill the whole world with all the things we wanted. We were frustrated at the end of BG&E1, and when we started the sequel we started again with this idea - you're free and can investigate and travel the world as much as you want."

According to Ancel, the next game will give players total freedom to explore many planets and huge, populated cities.

As of yet, however, it's unclear when Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be revealed.
