Beyonce and Jay Z are behind all the divorce rumors that have made the rounds since May, her father and former manager confirms. News of this broke the other day, but before you dismiss it as yet another ridiculous report made up by the tabloids, we have video to confirm it.

Embedded below is a video of Mathew Knowles saying on The Roula and Ryan Show on 104.1 KRBE that Beyonce and Jay planned the divorce drama a long time ago, to drive sales for their tour On the Run, which is about to wrap up in Paris next month.

He even says that the incident in the elevator that started all the frenzy, with Solange putting a beating on her brother-in-law, Jay Z, was staged too, for the same reason.

“I know, because we’ve done this. From experience, there’s a tour going on. So you sometimes have to ignite that tour. It’s called a Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot,” Mathew says, as you can see in the video.

Pressed about the Solange video leak, he tries to play it coy, but only to reveal even more details. “All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everyone’s talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange’s album sales went up 200%!” he enthuses.

So he’s basically saying that Solange, Beyonce and Jay Z planned this, and managed to fool the world for months on end. Now, they’re laughing all the way to the bank because all that divorce talk made even more people rush to buy a ticket for the tour, in the hope of seeing for themselves clues that the marriage was doomed.

If he’s not lying, this is a very nasty thing for him to do, throwing his daughters under the bus like that. Even if Beyonce masterminded the scheme to boost interest in the tour, he should not be talking to the media about it because it's in her detriment if he does.

As it happens though, Mathew might be lying through his teeth. The truth is that, as per his own admission, he only talks to Beyonce on Sundays, because when she fired him as a manager in 2011, she made it clear she no longer wanted him in her life.

Rumor has it that he stole money from her, which is why she fired him. As if that weren’t bad enough, Mathew also cheated on his longtime wife (Beyonce and Solange’s mother) Tina, which led to divorce, and he has at least 2 illegitimate children he’s failed to pay alimony for.

As these things go, he’s not exactly the most trustworthy source because there’s a very strong chance he has no idea what’s going on with Bey and Jay, so he’s only feeding the interviewers the information he imagines they’re expecting.

Speaking of spilling the beans on stuff, Mathew also claims that a new Destiny’s Child album and tour are in the works.
