14 DAY TRIAL // Without a doubt, the hottest story of the week is that of Solange, Beyonce’s sister, physically attacking Jay Z, Beyonce’s husband, in an elevator in NYC, after a MET gala afterparty. The story is backed up by video camera surveillance footage and seems to indicate that Beyonce was basically OK with Solange’s way of handling things.
You will find video of the violent episode embedded below. For the duration of almost 4 minutes (the bodyguard had pressed the brake button on the elevator, to prevent bystanders from accidentally witnessing the scene), Solange is seen kicking, punching, and throwing her purse at Jay Z, but also yelling and repeatedly pointing a finger at him.
In all fairness, at one point, while she doesn’t appear to speak or otherwise make any sudden gesture, Beyonce places herself between Jay and Solange, thus literally barring her from getting to him. She doesn’t seem to speak until the very end of the video, when Solange again goes on the attack – and she doesn’t address her, but Jay Z.
The clip, being lifted from a surveillance camera, has no audio, which means that no one knows what Solange was telling Jay Z whilst pointing that finger. You can see she’s very upset and furious, but you can’t tell what it’s all about.
One widely circulated theory is that she was actually defending her sister from Jay, who is too controlling. The latest from Radar Online seems to confirm that, while also revealing that the reason Beyonce didn’t react in any way to Solange’s violent attack is because she’s used to it: she and Jay fight like this all the time.
Granted, Radar doesn’t have much to go on with this, save for a “blind item” that seems to refer to a scene that took place before Beyonce’s much-hyped Super Bowl performance, when she and Jay got into a huge screaming and punching match backstage.
Apparently, he looked in her phone and saw that she’d been texting another man, so he started yelling obscenities at her. Not the one to back down, she yelled right back at him and, within minutes, they were trading punches along with the insults.
The oddest part about the report is that no one moved a finger to get them to calm down, which, says the tab, is a clear sign that they were all used to scenes like this one. Solange was there too, apparently.
So, while we don’t have audio to this (and we never will have it), all that’s left for fans to do is to speculate on what might have prompted such a scene they never imagined they would witness. After all, Jay and Bey are celebrity “royalty.”
And speculation says that these two, as much as they put on a happy façade, are anything but that behind closed doors.
