While commenters online keep fussing over the latest baby bump-related controversy, Beyonce is playing it cool in the November 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, in which she talks about her pregnancy, motherhood and fashion.

For starters, the singer opens up a bit about that much talked about moment at the MTV Video Music Awards 2011 when she showed off her protruding tummy on the red carpet.

Then, later on, at the end of her performance, she opened up her jacket and rubbed her belly, letting the world in on the good news.

It may have seemed like that was something spontaneous, but it was anything but, she says. She actually gave it a lot of thought because she wanted to be the first to break the happy news.

“I put a lot of thought into how I wanted to unveil it. It was important to me that I was able to do it myself… I was extremely nervous. It was the toughest red carpet I ever did,” the glowing mommy to be says.

“I didn’t want a crazy picture or gossip story to break the news… so I decided to say nothing and proudly show my baby bump. I felt it was more powerful to see the love and enthusiasm as opposed to saying anything,” she says of why she didn’t go for the traditional pregnancy announcement celebrities seem to prefer.

Beyonce then goes on to say what she’s hinted in previous interviews: the pregnancy was planned.

“It was important to me that I gave myself time to focus on becoming the woman I want to be, building my empire, my relationship, and my self-worth, before I became a mother. Now God has blessed us with the ultimate,” she says.

All fake baby bump controversy aside, Beyonce has also announced just recently that she’s due in February. She says she’s having the time of her life and is happiest than she’s ever been.
