It was a big weekend for singer Beyonce and her family as they were invited to play for the First Lady at the White House. Michelle Obama celebrated her 50th birthday and had a host of VIPs in attendance. The singer chose to wear a revealing gold mini skirt and high heels as she took to singing some of her hits like “Independent Women” and “Irreplaceable” to the famous guests which included officials, entertainers, athletes, business executives and big donors, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Beyonce is said to be a close friend to the Obamas and put on quite a show. Apart from singing some of her own songs, she surprised the audience by giving an impromptu performance of Stevie Wonder's “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours” and “Do I Do.”

Among those present to congratulate the First Lady were Bill and Hillary Clinton, Sir Paul McCartney, Magic Johnson, Janelle Monae, Jennifer Hudson, Al Roker, Michelle Kwan and Ashley Judd.

Beyonce documented her White House trip very carefully and shared with her fans on her Tumblr account. Present with her at the event were rapper Jay Z and their 2-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.

There were photos of Beyonce getting ready to perform, of her outfit, but also photos of Blue Ivy drawing, playing with the Obama's dog, and marveling at a Christmas Tree in one of the guest areas.

The event was so secretive that the guests are said to have received their invitations after the party ended, as they went home. There were also no cell phones allowed and no social media updates. Those who brought their cell phones with them had to leave them at the entrance.

Despite staying until the early hours of the morning, Beyonce was seen out in New York City the next day with her husband and her daughter, indicating that she left the party on a private plane and was out of Washington in a matter of hours.
