The Grammy and Mobo winning artist was dragged to court, in a lawsuit filed last year by the singer and songwriter Jennifer Armour, a woman who claimed that her song 'Got a Little Bit of Love for You' had been literally ripped off and transformed into the 2004 hit, 'Baby Boy'.
Armour claimed that the 'B' Day' star got her hands on the track after she had her manager send it to various recording labels, among which were also the ones with which Beyonce and Sean Paul (who features on 'Baby Boy') had contracts. The woman claimed her manager was trying to pitch the track to the record company only a few weeks before Beyonce's single came out.
But the judge in charge of the case took it upon himself to listen the two tracks in question and then decided that they were 'substantially dissimilar'. The lawsuit was consequently dropped and Beyonce did not fail to manifest her gratitude at being now able to put this not so pleasant moment behind her.
'It's unfortunate that lawsuits such as this one occur, but I am grateful and relieved to have this behind me, and I am eager to move on', the singer said after she heard the judge's decision. Nevertheless, this is not the first time that the bootylicious performer is confronted with such issues: in 2003, she and her Destiny's Child colleagues were taken to court in a $200 million copyright infringement suit, when a Miami producer claimed they had stolen one of his tracks for 'Survivor'.
