For the first time since that “incident” that seemed to hint Beyonce was faking her pregnancy, she speaks. The singer sat down with Katie Couric for an interview for 20/20 and, among other things, she also addressed ongoing conspiracy theories.

The video with the interview is below, embedded at the end of the article.

As fans must know, ever since she announced her pregnancy – her first with husband Jay-Z – Beyonce has been plagued by rumors that she was lying either about how far along she was or about the pregnancy altogether.

The aforementioned incident only strengthened that impression, as we also reported at the time.

Sitting down with Couric, a clearly excited and beaming Beyonce says some rumors are so completely ridiculous that she never bothers to pay attention to them in any way.

“You know there are certain things that are so far, it doesn’t even affect me. I am cool, it is so ridiculous and over the top,” she says.

While she might not take offense with the things people are saying online about her, her mother, Tina Knowles, is fixated on that.

“She’s like 'no one is going to talk about my gran-baby.' I was like calm down mom, it’s OK,” Beyonce says of how her mother reacted when she found out about the baby bump conspiracy theory.

Finally acknowledging her pregnancy in public, which she did at the 2011 VMAs, was a very liberating experience for Beyonce, she says.

She could finally stop trying to hide the bump with clever fashion.

“News that is that big… it is hard to keep to yourself. I felt so liberated and I could breathe and be happy. I went straight off the stage, I hugged Jay and I hugged my mom,” she says.

In the same interview, Beyonce refuses to state directly when she's due or whether she's having a boy or a girl.

She does say, though, that she's having the time of her life being pregnant while simultaneously wishing the baby was born sooner so that she could hold it in her arms.
