Beyonce drops full official video for bonus single “Why Don’t You Love Me”

As we were also telling you the other day, Beyonce is keeping very busy even while she’s officially on holiday. After a teaser for the “Why Don’t You Love Me” video that promised to show how B.B. Homemaker kept things around the house going smoothly, the full vid has been released, as MTV can also confirm. You can see it at the end of this article.

Produced by Dina Ciccotello and executive produced by Beyonce herself, the video shows B doing house chores while wearing the most glamorous vintage outfits. Since there’s no man in sight and the lyrics of the bonus song (co-written by Beyonce’s sister, Solange) clearly say “Why don’t you love me/ When I make me so damn easy to love?” it’s easy to infer that it’s all a display meant to show her man her true qualities.

“Beyonce may have killed off Sasha Fierce, but it looks like she’s introducing a new alter ego in her latest video, ‘Why Don’t You Love Me,’ which premiered Tuesday (May 4) via her Vimeo page. In a nod to classic American television, the clip opens with a narrator – in an advertising-styled voice-over – introducing B, ‘starring as B.B. Homemaker’,” MTV says. The introduction also served as a teaser, as we also reported the other day.

“Beyonce then does her best impersonation of Betty Draper, the embattled wife in ‘Mad Men,’ who endured the philandering ways of her husband, Don Draper. ‘Why don’t you need me,’ B croons throughout, smoking cigarettes, drinking martinis and crying the mascara down her face. ‘When I make it so damn easy to need me.’ The ‘50s-styled video finds Beyonce suffering through a number of household chores, including cleaning the kitchen, dusting (her Grammy Awards, no less), and watering the plants, all with no sign of her man,” the same music publication says.

The story in the video comes to an end with no solution in sight: homemaker Beyonce is still alone, still drinking martinis, smoking and crying her little eyes out, still without an answer to her initial question. The video was co-directed by Melina Matsoukas (who worked with Rihanna, Ne-Yo and Eve) and Beyonce herself. Check it out below and, as usual, enjoy.
