14 DAY TRIAL // Following reports that Beyonce and Jay Z’s marriage is practically over and that they have already decided they will be filing the papers once their current On the Run Tour is over, another one comes to apparently confirm the imminent split: the diva has already been out shopping for a new house.
Indeed, rich people (especially Beyonce-and-Jay-Z-type-of-rich) may very well afford to buy real estate like us regular folks buy deodorant and it’s not unheard of for the wife to hold separate properties from the husband or the other way around.
However, with these two, this was never the case: whatever they bought, they bought together, and perhaps even more tellingly, whenever they wanted a new house, they would go house showing together.
So, having Beyonce in New York looking for a new home can only mean one thing: she’s planning ahead for the day when she and Jay won’t be sharing their luxurious Tribeca crib, the New York Post reports.
This reportedly happened last month, just shortly after footage of that violent incident in the elevator, between Solange and Jay Z, leaked online. Beyonce took particular interest in a Chelsea penthouse estimated at $21.5 million (€16 million), which, one tipster says, would make a perfect new home for her and her daughter with Jay, Blue Ivy.
“She was very quiet, as if she was looking on the sly,” the source tells the Post.
Because Jay Z was always with Beyonce at all real estate deals or showings and because the penthouse Beyonce saw was smaller than her current home, the insider concludes: “I can say with certainty that Jay is not downsizing.”
That is to say, he won’t be moving in a new apartment anytime soon, this is just Beyonce’s place, where she’ll be living once the divorce proceedings kick off.
Speaking of which, this will probably happen very soon: reports claim that she’s only waiting for the tour to be over before she can file them. On the Run Tour wraps on August 6 in North America, but there are two more dates set for Paris in mid-September so, if all this gossip is even remotely accurate, either in August or September, we’ll witness the official end of one of the most successful couples in showbiz.
Rumors of a split have always plagued them, but they were never as bad as they’ve been this year, since the video leak in May. It was taken from a surveillance camera in an elevator, where Beyonce, Jay, and Solange (and their security team) got in after a MET Gala party, to go down to their rides downstairs and head for home.
The moment the doors closed, Solange launched herself at the rapper, punching and kicking him, and hitting him with her purse. His bodyguard intervened and restrained her, but for almost the entire duration of the video, Beyonce barely moved to get her sister to calm down and stop hitting her husband.
Because of this, it was assumed that Solange was somehow sticking up for Beyonce, maybe even confronting the rapper about his unfaithfulness.
