Beyonce Is Number One

Beyonce Knowles got such bad reviews even before her second solo album was out, that many suspected that it might actually represent the end of her music career... for good. People (to read, critics and skeptics) were not happy with the changes the artist made, referring both to her sound and her lyrics.

After the videos for 'Deja Vu' and 'Ring the Alarm' were released, many jumped at the opportunity of criticizing the singer, by saying that she dances as if she were 'possessed', while her music was said to 'drive people out of their minds', in more or less words. The point was that Beyonce's fans stuck by her, as it could well be seen at the MTV Video Music Awards and, now, by the Billboard sale results.

A week after 'B' Day' was released, the album is safely situated on the number one position, with 541,000 sold copies. It even beat the singer's previous album, 'Dangerously In Love', which sold 317,000 items in its first week, but rose to the amazing number of 4.3 million worldwide.

The number two position goes to Audioslave's third album 'Revelations', while Bob Dylan's 'Modern Times', which was last week's number one, slid to number three. Danity Kane, Diddy's manufactured group, got to number four with their self-titled debut album, while 'The Cheetah Girls 2' soundtrack got up one position to 5.

The remaining five positions from top ten go to: Christina Aguilera ('Back to Basics'), Jessica Simpson ('A Public Affair'), Nickelback ('All the Right Reasons'), Iron Maiden ('A Matter of Life and Death') and Hinder ('Extreme Behavior').
