Bing has released its annual top 10 of Most Searched Celebrities for 2013 and, while we’re still a month away from the end of the year, today’s as good a day as any to see who were the stars that got and kept people online this year.

Though the list covers several countries, including many from Europe but also Japan and Brazil, we’ll have a look at the top 10 in the US and in the UK. Entries in the former are also found in all the other lists from other countries.

Believe it or not, but this year’s number 1 most searched celebrity on Bing isn’t Kim Kardashian and it’s definitely not Miley Cyrus who, as of late, has turned herself into “that girl everybody loves to talk smack about.” It’s Queen Bee herself, Beyonce.

The explanation can probably be found in the fact that Beyonce is now on tour and she’s been keeping fans up to speed with its progress with countless photos and videos, but also teasing them with vacation photos on her website. The fact that she’s still to announce a new album probably contributed to the heightened interest as well.

At number two, we find Kim Kardashian and we honestly don’t think there’s any need to explain why. We’ll do it either way: 2013 saw Kim pregnant with her first child after a surprise announcement on New Year’s Eve, give birth, and become engaged on her 33rd birthday.

She and Kanye West make countless appearances and they (or at least Kim) always make sure they give the tabs and the fans something to talk about when they step out in public. Interest in Kim in recent weeks centers on topics like her new hairdo, her fabulous post-pregnancy figure, and speculation on what she’ll be wearing on her wedding day.

Rihanna lands in at number 3, though, to her credit, she’s been keeping a very low profile on social media as of late. She too has been on tour for a while now, but she’s also made headlines for her outrageous fashion and her even more outrageous choices in her love life.

Taylor Swift and Madonna round up the number 5, while Justin Bieber is the first male to break into number 10, landing at number 6. Nicki Minaj, the troubled Amanda Bynes, the twerking, tongue-sticking, rapping, one-woman controversy that is Miley Cyrus, and Barack Obama occupy the final positions.

In the UK, Bing’s most searched celebrity was Justin Bieber, followed by Beyonce, the Duchess Kate Middleton, Selena Gomez, X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Emma Watson, and glamor girl Kelly Brook.
