Shortly after word got out in the press that George Zimmerman had been acquitted of all charges in connection with the 2012 death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, singer Beyonce paid a touching tribute to the murdered teen.

Above is a video shot by a fan attending her concert in Nashville over the weekend.

Reports online say that Beyonce cut off her set about 30 minutes into it, as she was told of the news.

She asked for a brief moment of silence for Martin, and then covered the chorus of Whitney Houston’s iconic “I Will Always Love You” in his honor.

She then delved into her gorgeous ballad “Halo.”

News that Zimmerman, a community guard standing trial for murder in the 2012 shooting of Martin, had been acquitted (i.e., the jury ruled that he had acted in self-defense, even though Martin wasn’t armed), shocked many Americans.

Large crowds have gathered in the streets of various cities to protest against the verdict.
