Beyonce and Jay-Z are first-time parents. After much speculation and media frenzy, the most powerful couple in showbiz welcomed their first child, a daughter, in a New York hospital over the weekend.

Reports initially claimed that Beyonce wanted to have her C-section scheduled for January 4 for the reason that she and her husband believed it was their one lucky number.

They turned out to be false, since the singer emerged in NYC the day after the rumor broke, looking as pregnant as ever.

Now, E! Online, People magazine and various other media outlets are confirming the news that Beyonce has given birth: and, just like Kelly Rowland hinted a while back, it was a baby girl.

“Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed a daughter Saturday night in New York, the little one’s arrival coming via scheduled C-section, mutliple sources confirm to E! News,” the e-zine writes.

“And the pop ‘n’ hip-hop princess’ name? Drumroll, please… Blue Ivy Carter! (At least that’s what Jay-Z is telling pals at this point—the couple’s reps have not immediately responded to calls seeking comment.)” the same media outlet reports.

Other sources claim that the baby's name is Ivy Blue Carter but, with neither parent saying anything to the set the record straight, fans at home are left guessing.

While Beyonce and Jay would not confirm the happy news at the time of writing, their close friends have already done so – and what better venue to break the news than Twitter.

“congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z,” music mogul and good friend Russell Simmons tweeted, as per E!.

Pop princess Rihanna also told her fans and followers the good news, tweeting, “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.”

Beyonce and Jay-Z were married in April 2008 in a super-secret ceremony that they have yet to confirm out loud it ever took place.

They had been together for about 6 years when they decided to tie the knot. Now, they're first-time parents, with Beyonce confirming the news during a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2011.
