Last week it was a bad time to be a present or former president of the United States. Both the sitting president, as well as a former one, have been involved in scandals involving illicit affairs.

Whereas Bill Clinton was accused of harboring a secret affair with British actress Elizabeth Hurley, Barack Obama had to face accusations he was cheating on his wife with famous singer Beyonce. The news was disclosed by a French paparazzo who alleged that the affair was also known to major American publication LA Times.

Finally, she has decided to address the issue when her spokeswoman slammed the rumors as “absurd,” according to Entertainmentwise. The rumor had some backing because the Obamas are good friends with Beyonce and husband Jay Z, inviting them to events as performers and as guests.

The last time Beyonce visited the White House was for the low-key affair of Michelle Obama's 50th birthday. That sparked French photographer Pascail Rostain to claim the singer and the president were having a secret affair.

“You know, at this time, the United States, there is something big that is happening. Moreover, it will come out tomorrow in an edition of the Washington Post, [so] we can not say the alleged affair between President Barack Obama and Beyoncé is being reported on by the gutter press. I can assure you that the world will be talking about it,” he told a French newspaper.

Many thought that it was just a way of diverting attention from the French President who was set to make an official visit to the White House. Francois Hollande himself has had to battle a sort of embarrassing scandal after it was revealed in French media that he was having a secret affair with an actress.

The funny thing is that, just days before, Bill Clinton was accused of having a secret affair with British actress Elizabeth Hurley, as revealed by a secret recording of drug-troubled actor Tom Sizemore.

The issue was dismissed when Sizemore appeared in the media and said that the recording was nothing more than the rambling of a drug addict. Hurley too dismissed the rumors in a more casual matter tweeting, “Ludicrously silly stories about me & Bill Clinton. Totally untrue. In the hands of my lawyers. Yawn.”
