Beyonce Knowles has hit back at claims that she scheduled the UK pre-sale of her 'B' Day' album to coincide with that of former Destiny's Child star LeToya. The artist told MTV that there is no dispute going on between them and that she had no mischievous plan to undermine the success of LeToya's UK debut album.
LeToya Luckett left the popular band in 2000 because she couldn't agree with the ideas of the manager of Destiny's Child, otherwise known as Beyonce's father. Her self-titled album hit stores last week and is currently occupying the number one position in British charts.
When asked by MTV if the date when 'B' Day' became available for pre-orders was planned to clash with the release date of 'LeToya', Beyonce said:
'I have enormous respect and admiration for LeToya as an artist and a businesswoman and I wish her incredible success. LeToya and I have known each other since childhood and, because of all we've been through, I know that we both really care - and want what's best - for each other. It makes me sad that people are trying to stir up controversy where there is none.'
The artist was backed in her statement by her father/manager, Mathew Knowles, who said it was 'standard practice' for an album to go on pre-sale before the official launching date. 'B' Day' will be available in music stores on September 4th.
