Betty White says busy schedule won’t allow her to attend Corps Ball, turns down Marine’s invitation

Sergeant Ray Lewis said she was the “perfect woman” he’d like to take to the upcoming Corps Ball but, unfortunately, Betty White is also a famous actress with a schedule to match. As such, she just turned down his YouTube invitation.

As we also noted the other day, Lewis took a page out of the hottest manual to land a celebrity date, and came up with his own video invite for Betty.

In it, he showed off his physical prowess and then, in full uniform and a rose in hand, he went on to explain why he’d chosen the actress as his ideal date for the upcoming event.

Sadly, his dreams were crushed when White sent out a statement turning him down to various media outlets, TooFab included.

As it turns out, she’s busy the day of the ball, therefore, cannot honor his invitation.

“I am deeply flattered and truly appreciate the invitation, as everyone knows I love a man in uniform... but unfortunately, I cannot accept as I will be taping an episode of ‘Hot in Cleveland’,” White says in the statement, which she signs with “Love, Betty.”

Lewis has already responded to White’s refusal, saying that, while heartbroken, he’s happy she allowed him to have his 15 minutes of fame.

Chances are he still believes they would have had a blast had they gone together to the ball.

“She’s funny, she’s sweet, she’s mature. She’s the all-around perfect woman,” he said of the legendary actress in the made-for-YouTube video.

“I really think we’d have a good time. I’m fun, you know… I think I can make her laugh. I think she can make me laugh. I think we can laugh together. So, call me!” he added.

Lewis is the third Marine to ask a celebrity to a ball in recent weeks and actually get the star’s attention: Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake have also been approached in this manner, and they said yes.
