Robert Pattinson says Betty White should play Renesmee in “Breaking Dawn”
Robert Pattinson says Betty White should play Renesmee in “Breaking Dawn”

To say that Betty White is back riding the high wave would be stating the obvious at this point, especially after a string of very successful television appearances, including on the highest rated in years episode of Saturday Night Live. As such, it’s no wonder “Twilight” stars have also taken notice of Betty and would even love to see her in the fourth installment of the franchise, E! Online reports.

The e-zine was at the premiere of the third installment of the “Twilight Saga,” “Eclipse,” and managed to ask some of the stars about how they’d feel about having the 88-year-old screen legend cast in the fourth (and perhaps even fifth) film. Robert Pattinson, who plays brooding and gentlemanly vampire Edward Cullen, for instance, not only agrees that Betty should be cast, but also has the perfect part for her. Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen) echoes the sentiment.

“What’s left for the Golden Girl to do? How about Twilight? Yup, we think director Bill Condon should cast the 88-year-old legend in Breaking Dawn. Guess who likes our idea: Robert Pattinson! R.Pattz didn’t miss a beat when we asked him at the Eclipse premiere if he thinks White should be in BD. ‘Definitely,’ he said. ‘She can be the baby.’ The baby he’s referring to, of course, is Edward and Bella’s daughter, Renesmee,” E! Online writes. Clearly, Robert is not the only one who believes Betty would be a wonderful addition to the cast.

“Oh, my gosh. I love Betty. I would love for them to do what they did in Benjamin Button with her and she can be Renesmee. I would change some scenes up so we could have Jacob and Emmet going for her. I want to work with her. That would be so much fun,” Kellan also says. Even the author of the original books, Stephenie Meyer, would love to see White in it, though she sees her playing a vampire herself. “We have so many vampires in Breaking Dawn, surely she can fit in somewhere. Wouldn’t it be amazing if she was like just sitting there with a big group of the Volturi? That would be amazing,” Meyer says.

Peter Facinelli, who plays Carlisle Cullen, the leader of the “vegan” vampire covenant, takes the joke even further, saying that Betty White is now so famous and popular and talented that she should be in everything – literally. After doing “Breaking Dawn,” she should be cast in an action movie in 3D and, of course, afterwards, have a character made for her for “Avatar 2.”
