Mizi Research has brought new updates for the Linux graphical interface of mobile phones. They managed to do this by upgrading Prizm to version 3.0 and equipping it with a series of nice enhancements.

The main update consists in modern visual effects that include dragging, sliding, fading and accelerated smart scrolling. This means that the menu will be much more interactive and will respond in a more personalized way to the user's commands.

Prizm 3.0 has chosen Python as the main application programming language. Furthermore, it includes IDE (integrated development environment) for application development. "Configuration, dependency checking, conflict resolution, project management, deployment support and cross compiling of WMMX, gcc" come with the target applicator builder Eclipse plugin, say people at Mizi Research. In order to provide continuous operating support, the updates also include a remote debugger, which offers breakpoint and tracepoint debugging.

Prizm 3.0 also brings, compared to its 2.5 version, enhanced multimedia and messaging features. For this, it is capable of supporting MPEG, H.263/4, RealMedia and WMA/V formats. Even more, it comes with push-email and a graphically improved interactive window that resembles the instant messaging programs. The improved graphics are obvious in the entire content of the Prizm 3.0 version, as windows slide from sides, objects can be dragged and closed program instances fade away with style.

CEO Y. Seo promised that "Prizm will bring dramatic development efficiency and productivity improvements to device manufacturers, whilst providing powerful features and a sophisticated, fun and dynamic GUI to end-users. Additionally, MIZI is cooperating with various industry members such as telecom operators, OEMs, chip vendors and ISVs to form a Linux terminal software ecosystem and we expect to release the first commercial product as a result of this collaboration effort in Q4 of 2007."

Samsung is the biggest customer for Prizm 2.5 with its SCH-i819 and SCH-i858 phone models, but announcements for switching to the new Prizm 3.0 have not been yet made.
